Edmond OK Emergency Dentist

If you’re in pain, give us a call. We will see you today, if possible. We allow a certain amount of flexibility in our schedule to be able to accommodate emergencies.

Even if you take good care of your teeth, problems can arise that require urgent dental care. If you suspect that something is wrong, you should not attempt to wait it out. What you may think is just an inconvenience can develop into a very serious problem, if not taken care of promptly. You don’t need to suffer in pain or take a chance that may result in losing a tooth. Oklahoma City dentist, Dr. Bender, is there to help if you have the need for emergency dental treatment. And if dental anxiety is an issue with you, relax. We offer inhalation conscious sedation (nitrous oxide or “laughing gas”) for your comfort.

Common Dental Emergencies

Dental Pain

Dental pain can be an indication of a serious problem. A cracked tooth, a cavity, an impacted tooth, or an abscess can all manifest in a toothache. When you delay treatment, you are not just uncomfortable, but you are risking serious complications. Anytime you experience significant dental pain, you should seek the attention of a dentist.

Swelling

Swelling of your gum, either in a localized area around a tooth, or your entire gum, can be caused by a number of factors. Something as small as a popcorn kernel or as serious as periodontal disease or an infected tooth can cause gum swelling. Non-dental medical conditions can also be characterized by swelling of the gum area. Regardless of the cause, you need to seek immediate dental care when you experience swelling.

Traumatic Injuries

Any accident that involves injury to the mouth or teeth requires quick dental attention. In many cases, time is of the essence when you experience dental trauma. For example, if you have a tooth knocked out and can be seen within a half hour, we may be able to replant that tooth. Delaying treatment can result in permanent tooth loss.

If you have any questions at all about whether or not your particular situation calls for an emergency dentist, please give us a call. A little attention early on can save you significant problems and expense in the long term.
